I actually use optical 95% of the time.

I use optical 100% of the time for HD DVD though, since I'm using an Xbox 360.

I tried the analogs, but it didn't sound as good. I really haven't tried to "calibrate" my reciever. I'm just a 2-channel/analog guy getting started in HT...

How did you get 7.1 thru HDMI? What toshiba HD DVD do you have? What receiver do you have?


I have a A2 with the Onkyo 674 and both only support 5.1 via HDMI?

The receiver and speaker set up I have is full 7.1, and of course only a few games (so far) for the PS3 support full PCM 7.1, but those that do sound very nice.

Well I've got a yamaha 5790 which is setup for 7.1

My HD A1 is outputting 5.1 analog and optical. I use optical most of the time. But use 5.1 analog for true HD discs.


Although somtimes at night I just use the TVs speakers. So I use it all really...
