how laughable would it be to consider these towers instead of overnight sensations

With [email protected]/1M and 90 Watt RMS capacity it will be fun to hit reference levels at any distance. They do have "extended bass response to 45 Hz!:D
However...
From the c-net review: "The Dayton Audio T652s are good, but the Pioneer SP-FS52 towers, for $260 a pair, are substantially better in every way."

By the way, this IS the DYI section...;)

Overnight sensations are diy......... :(

FIXED.
The OS are very small and very limited output speakers. The main consideration for them was size. The towers are much bigger and will play much louder.

A sale just ended on Amazon for the FS52s for $80 each. Easily the best speaker at that price. That's literally cheaper getting bookshelves and speaker stands.

assuming zero compression, unlikely, and proper specification, also unlikely, that is 107.5db at 90 watts at 1 meter. drop 6db per doubling of distance and by two meters, one already can't hit 105db peak, which is peak reference for mains. they may be nice little speakers, but not reference capable.
There's a lot more to choosing a speaker then output capability. The OS use nice budget drivers with a well designed xover. The 652 is seriously the cheapest quality drivers with the cheapest xover possible. The woofer is run full range which takes them up to 6.5khz. The tweeter gets a 3.3uf cap. That's it for design work.
Really need to know the application here.... There are better options than both of those in the same price area.

L and r front mains.

If I were to go with the os I would build mt for l and r and mtm version for center. But what are the better options in the same price range?
L and r front mains.
Stereo listening? Theater? What volume levels intended? What's your budget like? How much space do you have available?
Home theater. Looking around 60$ per speaker. I don't care if I have to build the enclosure and crossover
As far as the db's go I usually listen at around 75 with peaks around 85.

This is how much room I have.

The space is about 16'x16'x7'

Well, you have a sub... I'd suggest spending a little more. Maybe look at something like the Fusion 6 or Fusion 8.
DIY with a really small budget will have trouble outperforming comparably priced retail products. It's hard for niche products from niche vendors to outcompete the Walmarts of the world in the race to the bottom. It's probably worth saving for something that you'll be happier with.

So. I think I've settled on the fusion 6. The cost is only more expensive than the original budget by about 30$ per speaker. And at only 15$ for a pre cut cnc'd flat pack it sounds like an awesome deal. But now I'm thinking of 2 anarchy horns. One under the left and right speakers. But could these easily be built into a singular tower with the anarchy on the bottom and fusion 6 on top?

On second though the anarchy horn is very deep.
Hard to beat an Infinity 1260w for a cheap sub. Sealed or ported, both work great.
I've already Considered the 1260. But I've gotten the horn bug..... someone should design a horn based on the 1260.............

Funny, I'm hoping to build a pair of offset driver front loaded horns for the 1260w this summer.

It's an unproven design at this point, hasn't been built or measured, I don't have even have the internal layout finalized, cut sheet laid out, etc... Exterior dimensions are about 80" by 38" by 16". Two of those fit under a king size mattress. It shall be The Foundation of Bass.

There is a design for a TMM Overnight Sensation tower. It would be a mere 6" wide and as tall or short as you like (I would recommend 34" tall). So with your small space, they wouldn't be too visually intrusive. Put them on either side of the TV stand.

They would get ~6dB louder than the OS-TM speakers and still be pretty cheap. I think the crossover is the same as the MTM as well.

Just to throw you another option. I've listened to the OS many times and it continues to amaze. I can't believe that cheap small drivers like that can perform so well with a proper crossover.

That Dayton tower you are looking at, I wouldn't touch that with a 10' pole, given my experience with the B652s- which are the 2nd worse speakers I've ever heard.

this sounds like a good option. I really love the gold/bronze cones. I know aesthetics shouldn't matter but...... I guess I'll be researching the tmm variant now.
