All reports suggest the 2014 models will not be as good as current 2013 models (no local dimming for one). I am wondering how long do sony 'old' models hang around the marketplace after the new models come out. I don't want to miss the boat. Would love to see the new vizio m models possibly coming out in May before I buy the sony. They are expected to be very good. The P model should be even better.

Tough to say, id think alot of it has to do with consumer purchases. They will be around till they get sold out?

Where did you read that the 13's will be better then the 14's? Not saying its not true but unlikely. If anything the 14's should be just as good as the 13's.

Right now id rather go with and will be going with a quality 1080p set over a 4k set. Not due to price, im just not sold on 4k yet.

Actually the 2012 Sony models were better than the 2013 models. Thing is that the top is moving on to 4K in larger sizes and thus will be much more expensive than previous top Sony's.

2011 top Sony was the XBR HX929 1080p FALD in 46'', 55'' and 65''

2012 top Sony was the XBR HX950 1080p FALD in 55'' and 65''

2013 no FALD's, so no top LEDs, there were some Triluminos Sony's though.

2014 top Sony is the XBR X950B 4K FALD in 65'' and 85'' (in Europe only in 85'')
