I have no success with a PING but a quick WHOIS gave me this titbit..

Record last updated on 05-Mar-2001.

Record expires on 29-Sep-2001.

Record created on 28-Sep-1996.

Database last updated on 2-Sep-2001 21:30:00 EDT.

The domain hasn't expired (easy to miss this I have screwed it up more than once) but it was updated recently... Perhaps they have moved nameservers before they were set up correctly ??

Now instead of a DNS or 404 error I am getting a 403 'you do not have permission' errors...

Starting to look a little unprofessional IMHO though... I keep better uptime with my hobby sites (though I am sure my hits are far less)...

I found the Panamorph web pages at the following link:
http://www.visr.com/Panamorph.htm

I looked there because Shawn had posted shipping status there. Does anybody know the relationship between Cygnus and Visual Systems Research?

That error usually means the site it up but the default page served up is either not found or has security enabled on it to prevent non logged in users from reading it.

They may have been hit (hacked or virus) which, in turn may have prompted them to tighten security.

I also assume the AV folks are getting ready for CEDIA?

Just a thought.

"I also assume the AV folks are getting ready for CEDIA?"

Does that mean PANAMORPH production is suspended until after CEDIA?

even "Visual Systems Research" is not on the list of exibitors at Cedia
http://www.cedia.com/expo/expo_2001_exhibitors.html

Maybe they decided to change their business strategy to research. That's what I do....I don't actually produce anything. This last part was just a joke. Don't panic!(unless you already bought a panamorph)

Hmmm,

If they have switch to www.visr.com then they probably ought to have www.cgns.com redirect to the new website and save problems with users not being able to find the site.

As for not being an exhibitor at Cedia, I don't think Cygnus is large enough to support their own booth and booth space. I know Shawn has been going to all the recent exhibitions with the Panamorph, talking to manufacturers, etc. I'm sure he will show up at the AVS meetings in the Stewart Filmscreen and AVI booths.

Regards,
