OK, I started out with the basic DirecTV deal from Circuit City. Two Sony SAT-B65's and a round dish with one dual LNB. So there's two wires coming out of the dish, going into the house. Now, I'm going to add a Sony UTV box as well. I have a Terk multiplexer (2x4).

My first question is, do I need to run two lines from the multiplexer to the UTV box in order to record two shows at once? Or will one line handle it?

Second question... given that there's two tuners in the UTV, plus two B65's, that's four tuners. Can all four tuners be tuned to different channels at the same time?

You have to run two separate lines to the UTV to utilize both tuners. Yes all four receivers can be set to four different channels.

Just so you know, a single round dish can handle a TON of connections...some apartment buildings have 1 dish for the entire complex...it's just a matter of having the right equipment. Take a look at this FAQ for good Multiswitch info:
