How many speaker runs per location?

I'm this close to drywall with my year+ long HT build. I'm to the point of re-re-thinking everything. I'm sure many of you can relate. I've run one 14/2 CL3 run to each speaker location (7.1), but I am thinking about buying another 250ft roll and doubling up. Is this overkill? I know there's always the "something could happen", but really, two speaker runs to each location, is that really necessary? Not that it's that tough or expensive to run another line to each location, just another night of work when I am oh so close to drywall.

Wondering what the consensus is, your experience will sway my decision.

Thanks all.

For me it's one run and conduit in case I ever need more.
Do you honestly see yourself bi-wiring all your speakers? Or having two sets of speakers at each location? Or running 4 Ohm speakers?

If the answers are all no, move on to rocking and just remember, hanging sheetrock is really only about midway in the whole process.

I don't, to all of the above. And I will check all connections before I close up the walls. But there's always that bit of doubt, I'll regret it if I don't.

Drywall might be halfway, but to the wife, it will look like a room. If I can get paint up and flooring down, that will be 99% in her eyes. Then my fun really begins...

Yes but the steps between hanging the drywall and getting the paint up are full of long, tedious, time consuming activities like mudding, priming and don't forget trim work.

I know what you're saying though, once the sheetrock is up it looks completely different. Once the mess from mudding and sanding is cleaned up and the sheetrock is primed, it looks even better.

Cable is cheap in the big scheme of things...

If you only run one set of wire without conduit make sure you use nail guards everywhere!

I ran extra speaker cable to the sides and rears in case I decided to go with in-ceiling speakers at some point.

I also ran two sets of center channel speaker cables - one high, one low just in case I ever decide to get an AT screen.
