I just wondered. I've just moved LaserDisc to the bedroom, and I

used this as CD player. Should I get a stand alone CD player or

use the HTPC? I use the Leadtek4xsound card with COAX out.

I don't use it as CD player, but I use it as CD ripper.

I don't see a reason to use the CD media itself, when it can be stored on a harddrive. Much easier and more flexible.

Same here. I hardly ever pull out a cd anymore (except to rip it).


Keep in mind if you do use the HTPC as a standalone CD player, you won't have control buttons like play, ff, pause, etc on the faceplate (unless your HTPC has them)
