How much heat does the Pearl put out?

Hello Pearl owners,

I've been considering upgrading my Benq 8700+ that I have had for the last 2 years with the Sony Pearl. I've read as much as I can on this projector and everything I read about it is pretty good, but my main concern now is how much heat does it put out. I live in Miami Florida and I have a small home theatre room which is 12 x 12 . My previous two projectors were lcd based , Sanyo PLV-60 and a Sharp and they were like heaters in the room, I had to keep the air conditioner and ceiling fans on all the time to make it bearable . I don't have that problem with the Benq , any feedback from you Pearl owners would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

George

IMO, best relative indicator would be wattage of the bulb. How many watts does the Benq use?

I cannot offer a comparison with any other projector, but I can say that the Pearl will heat up your room. I have to turn down the temp on the air conditioner to keep it comfortable on warm days.
So if you vent it into your bathroom, you can almost guarantee that you always will be a hot sh__. :)
In a small closed room, heat may be an issue. My HT is 26x18x8 with opening in the back and I do not notice any temp difference.
For me coming from the HS51a it is not as hot (tempature wise) as that unit.
Other than the electronics, which don't produce much heat (far less than your AVR), about as much as two 100W laght bulbs. Not much, really.
Thank's guys I appreciate all your comments.

I measured the power usage. It consumes a total of 270W in "high" lamp mode, and 217W in "low" lamp mode (or when there is no signal).
