D-Nice... do you care to share your experience regarding the cost to lease a CableCARD from Time Warner?

It might be helpful if those using them could post cablecard and the STB it might have replaced to see teh difference, and to point out the cablecard cannot do everything the digital boxes can do(like OnDemand, PPV, or guide data, etc...), so it SHOULD be cheaper....

Exactly, because, here, Comcast has CCs, that are nominally free, or as they say, 'no addtl. fee above your Digital sub.' The thing is, the Digital sub includes an otherwise $5 Digital STB, and one can substitute a CC for that; so, while it looks free, it is really $5. Of course, if one has an HD or ED TV, then one will save the extra $5 to upgrade to an HD STB.

Digital upgrade $5.95 to get HD

Cablecard $0.00 total extra $5.95

DD STB $8.25 total extra $14.20


with cablecard: tv guide with 500u, no remote, no STB, better reception HAPPY WAV ECT...
