THANKS
This is a good question! I have searched all through the forum and can't find any threads about this or anything else related to SHO-HD. Would someone please post something about these topics!
If you call DTV you can order the Sat C kit for free........ 8.08 shipping will be charged. Or you can buy the Sat C kit for about 35.00 from the various online electronics places or from Radio Shack for around 60.00.
$20.80 is what it cost me.

$8.80 for DirecTv to ship Sat C kit

$12 donation for 1 month Showtime ( already cancelled, not sure if I will get a rebate or not, we will see on the next bill, if they do rebate I should get the SatC kit for about $10)

I did this to get the SatC kit for future use cheap, Showtimes terrible lineup does not interest me at all
R. Aster,

If you need more info, do a search for "SHOHD" and "sat-c" and you'll find tons of threads.

Ralph
Actually you don't need to pay a dime for the regular Showtime package. They'll activate the Showtime-HD channel for free, at least for now.
They won't ship you the "free" kit for $8.08 shipping unless you already have Showtime currently or if you add it to your subscription.

Also, you need to have a base package ($31.99 minimum, total choice, etc) in order to add Showtime......even temporarily.

Most people talking about this $8 deal are subscribing to a base package already but don't understand that those of us that do not have a base package (like me, only $12/month for HBO ala carte) can't take advantage of the deal. I had wanted to get the Sat-C kit, but when I saw the total lack of programming on Showtime that actually interested me, I told them to forget it. It's not worth having to subscribe to a $32/month package that I don't need in order to take advantage of the offer. I'm sure that when the additional HDNET channels come around, or if they move HBO-HD to the 110 bird, they will have similar offers for non-Showtime subscribers.

Darn! I can't imagine why tybo15041 and I didn't think of that, or even just glance at the forum messages for the last week! We must be stupid!

All you have to have is the FREE Showtime-HD on your account. I called and had them add Show-HD only, then called back 30 seconds later to get the $8.08 Sat-C kit. Showtime is supposed to be on your account before they'll ship the "free" Sat C kit, but you do not have to pay for the regular Showtime package.
just called and they said you have to subscribe to the full showtime package. I said no, they of course said yes.

Someone please tell me how to get only the FREE showtime HD channel as the previous poster stated.

thanks
Well, I guess it's obvious that if you call them 10 different times you'll get 10 different answers. There's nothing in the computer system to prevent them from sending you the "free" Sat C kit if all you have is Showtime HD, so probably the best thing to do is just do it in two separate calls. Call no. 1: Ask for SHO-HD. If they ask you if you have the 3rd LNB, say yes. Call no. 2: order the Sat C kit. They'll look on your account to see if you have Showtime, and it will be there. Worked for me, anyway.

If call no. 2 is unsuccessful, and you've got more time than money, just keep calling back. You should eventually get someone who'll do it.

After three calls I have found that this information is NOT correct.

Now if somebody has actually done this. I think we would like to know how it was done. That is.."get Showtime HD for free"

please don't confuse this topic with the sat c kit info

As at least a dozen posts in this thread http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=137376 indicate, lots of people here have done exactly what I've described. I'm certainly not going to dispute what you might have heard from three different CSRs, but this whole issue has been discussed to death in numerous other threads.
Has anyone used the online "My DirecTV" to get around the CSRs (it seems to be down at the moment).

After a dead-end attempt with the CSRs a few days ago, I tried again today. They insisted I subscribe to the Showtime package in order to get Showtime HD and the sat C kit. I decided to agree to it, figuring I'd just cancel the Showtime package later (hopefully leaving the Showtime HD line intact).

Is it possible to do this online using My DirecTV? It would save a lot of hassle.

Yes, that is how I did it. I deleted the Showtime package online and the Showtime HD remained.
Doing it online sounds like the answer - but I can't find the My DirecTV path to ask for it. I'm already set up for HD and the Total Choice package. Where do you go in the menu system to sign up for the Sat C kit?
Most people that subscribed to the Showtime package, then cancelled via online, only kept the SHOHD for a day, then it was disconnected.

You cannot order the Sat C kit online. As far as I can tell that has to be done on the phone.
