Just set my ST130 in place and right now it is about 1/8 inch (top-bottom) off plumb. You can see theater pics at the bottom of my theater page.

So how good is good enough and what are the variables? It is not at all hard to fix but I hate to mess with it if it is already inside the error band. I was thinking just wait to try it with the PJ and see.

PJ will be an RS1 at about 16-17 foot throw.

Thanks!

After all that work I would say the screen should be within a nanometer two at the most.

Kidding aside that's a impressive project and very well done and the end results are very inspiring to those of us in our little basement theaters.

As to tweaking the screen a 1/8 inch or less you will never be able to see it. But if the back of your mind you know it then if you are like me it will drive you nuts so better get it totally plumb.

Getting the projector absolutely on target will be more of a struggle and I would guess almost everyone is off a smidgen and letting the screen border eat a little light. I hope to post today or tomorrow on a mounting setup I just tried that I found made that lineup a whole lot easier. You might want to try something like that for the next step if you don't already have things all set in place for a mount .

Once again beautiful theater

So I guess buying the house without a room for a theater didn't bother you much.

Looks very impressive!

Thanks! Indeed, one of the problems with houses in general is the good properties are mostly built on, leaving one with the choice of poorer lots or remodeling. This way is better, but it costs you by way of a huge amount of mess while it is being done! Only now can I see the light at the end of the tunnel and it is about 700 lumens from an RS1.

Well, it should be soon, anyway, as soon JVC gets them out.

First question is - Did you install it or did you pay to have it done. If you hired someone it's a no-brainer...get them back to get it right.

However, I am guessing you did it yourself and are faced with going back to fix it yourself. :)

I did the same thing (hung my own screen) and I was obsessed with making sure it was level. I know I would be way too lazy to screw with it after it was up. Plus mine was anchored into a concrete header over a window and creating a new hole near a previous hole was not going to be an option.

In the end, mine was level.

However, after all that, I will agree with the poster above....it's more of a PITA to get the image square on the screen then I would have imagined and my search for perfection is becoming a casualty of real life.

Try it out for a while. See if it bugs you.

Yeah, pretty much what I figured. There is a saying: "Perfection is the enemy of "good enough"". Unfortunately, as we see on this forum, too many of us (myself included) seek the ever elusive perfection!
