How Replay could make the pause screen a feature

I've had my ShowStopper for 2 weeks now, and there is one problem I'm very concerned about - Burning my Big-Screen with all the static screens.

My dish receiver makes all static screens disappear after a few minutes to prevent screen burn-in. With replay, I've gotten distracted and come back an hour later to find the blue replay screen staring at me.

I'd love to have ads come up after a programmable timeout - as long as the changed occasionally to prevent screen burn.

Same with the pause screen. This would prevent burn if it "flipped" ads every few minutes - which would also give more ad impressions per (absent ;> ) user!

In any case, I think replay NEEDS to deal with the screen burn issue somehow.

hehe Well you are thinking just like the ReplayGuys! I believe this will be implemented very shortly within v3!

I agree with you by the way! Of course I'm getting an LCD projector in 3 more business days so I guess it's a non issue for me now

It's great to have all this great gear. But I'd instead put all that money into software (Movies) I'd have SOMETHING TO WATCH ON ALL THIS GREAT GEAR. Doh!
Do you have any idea how impervious modern CRTs are to the decades old problem of screen burn? You REALLY don't need to be concerned about it from your replay unit, trust me...

No, I don't have any idea how impervious modern 3-crt projection TV's are to screnn burn-in. Could you point me to some information on how the problem has been resolved?

I know it is not much of an issue with color CRT's but it was my understanding it still was with the monocolor CRT tubes in projection TV's, especially because of the high intensities required for projection.

Since there was a warning on the front of my Sony rear projection big screen model at the store telling you not to play video games, watch letterbox movies, etc. more than 20% of the time, I have worried about that blue Replay screen myself. I don't leave it on, but when my wife puts a video on for the kids and then it ends, that screen might sit there for a while.

skeptic: You didn't say ANYTHING about it being a projection tv, that's a different animal.

Sorry, I used the term Big-Screen a little too loosely.

How different? Burn in is still a problem for projections?

So, how about it ReplayGuys? Can we get the Coke ads to pop up on the blue Replay screen also as sort of a screen saver? Do they change periodically?

I wonder if it would help to change the background colors periodically (with 516 Zones). Maybe I should change it to Green for a while, then Red.
