I am planning to buy a PlayStation 3 by July 2007. The only

problem is that my components will not tap into PlayStation 3's

full power.

For a television I have a Sony KD-34XBR970.

It can accept 480i/p 720p 1080i. Displays 480p/1080i.

1 HDMI input and 2 component inputs. 1 S/PDIF for audio.

For a receiver I have a Sony STR-K9900P.

It has 6.1. 1000 watts. 140w per channel, 160 subwoofer.

Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Pro Logic II,

Dolby Pro Logic IIx, DTS, DTS-ES, DTS Neo:6, and DTS 96/24.

1 S/PDIF and 2 TOSLINK for audio inputs.

Now I don't know PlayStation 3 that much but I don't think this

equipment is going to be enough. Can you tell me if this setup

is ok for playing PlayStation 3 games and Blu-Ray movies?

I am only 15 years old.

I didn't ask for your ignorance.

I agree, your thread seems a little...Odd. To put it blunt, you could never afford everything to take advantage of the PS3 or any other console for the fact. That is, unless you won the lottery or are a millionaire. There are TVs that cost over $100,000 dollars. There is always something better.

Your setup is fine, just be happy with it.

It's just I see these people with their 1080p TV's and full 7.1 LPCM

surround sound. I guess what I want to know is how close am I

to that? Will I notice a big difference if I have that or this?

Eh, not really. 1080P native TVs will probably look a bit better but it is nothing to lose sleep over. Here is some advice, be happy with what you have. If you're always looking across the fence at what you're neighbor has, you won't enjoy what you have.

But if you are a millionaire, I suggest one of those spiffy 16 panel HDTVs
You can pick one up for a measly 300 grand

I guess I'm a little wind up with the PlayStation 3's advance

technology stuff that I can sometimes want to be ahead of the game.

I guess there is nothing really bad with this setup.

In a few years prices will come down. Then you can get a new one once you're old enough to have a job, and others will be bitching about how they spent thousands of dollars on their old outdated HDTV.

FYI, I do have a job. That's what got me this this setup in the first place

with a little help from Christmas. I am 15 and turning 16 in March. I know

it's not legal age but someone hired me because I look like 17 and they

didn't require birth certificate.

You have a better audio/video system than most adults.

By which statistics?

Most people don't even have an HDTV, let alone surround sound. Like I said, be happy with what you have. However, if you are really set on being sad and envious, I can point you to a set of 20,000 dollar speakers that would help.

Nah, I'm just saying if this is based by his opinions or facts.

BTW, what setup do you currently have?

46" Samsung 1080P LCD and 5.1 surround sound. I had a 26" LCD before that and I was fine with it, I only upgraded because it died.

Save money for college, a car, or something else. You'll be better off.

Yeap, college is an investment in yourself. Do well and you'll soon have more money than you need. Besides, I imagine college would be difficult with a 1080P TV and 7.1 surround sound
