i don't have any experience with crt pjs, and have never even seen one.

i did own a rp for about 6 months, and trying to do a convergence on it was always frustating.

i just wondering if doing convergence on a fp would be easier or more difficult in general.

are there compromises involved?

how long ususally before they start to drift?

Depending on the unit, anywhere from 1-hour to ten years. Not trying to be facetious, here, but I've listened to some say they drift all the time and sometimes too often. On the other hand, I have a friend that hasn't touched his convergence (picture looks fantastic) in two years. Thus, YMMV.

It depends on the make and model. Virtually all properly set up EM focus type sets should be as sharp as a digital and convergence drift is minimal.

If set up right and it is not sitting under a heater vent drift should be minimal. In other words defends on the monkey under the hood. I like to compare the sharpness of mine to my computer monitor, could be sharper except I went with a larger then normal screen for my seating distance.
