I'm a photographer and have been calibrating my displays for years with ColorEyes Display Pro and the DTP-94 colorimeter. I want to load the software on a laptop and give calibrating my plasma a try.

My question is how do I access the advanced video adjustment controls for my TH-46PZ80U 46" Panasonic plasma?

The menu I see has only very basic adjustments, not even separate red, blue, and green.

Thanks!

I would expect you can only calibrate your laptop. This may be what you want but it's not suitable if you want to calibrate for other sources (AVR, BD, DVD etc.)

I'm a novice to TV calibration, but I don't understand why my monitor calibration software, when used in manual mode, couldn't be used to display the TV screen parameters if the colorimeter device were attached to the plasma screen.

I just need a way to adjust the Panasonic to achieve the proper color temp, luminance, and so on. Are there more advanced controls, and how do I access them?

Most consumer Panasonics have very limited controls. The white point and gamma are set by selecting temperature/mode and there's a two point grayscale adjustment in the service menu. The specifics can usually be found in the thread for your model.

Greetings

Service access you can get from the service manual (which you might find somewhere or have to buy) ... or maybe one of the threads at the top of this section ... called ... shockingly ... Service menu codes ...
