I'm having some problems trying to figure out the best method to access my front speakers that will be residing in 2 columns, one on each each side of the screen wall. I'm building 2 columns on either side of the screen wall and covering them in cabinet grade oak plywood. I've built a shelf within each column for my right and left front speakers. My plan was to take some oak trim and attach GOM to it and have that attached over the opening of where my speakers are within the column. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how the best way to attach that GOM wrapped frame to the column? Has anyone dealt w/ a similar problem? Thanks in advance.

Many people build a removable frame face that has the GOM attached and then attach that frame to the column with velco or magnets.

Look at Zimena's most recent photos if you want to see an example: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...post10479760

I had thought about velcro, but am worried that there being a small gap that will be noticeable due to the thickness. I do like Zinema's idea and may do that but with some E-clips. Thanks for the responses. I'll see what I can figure out.

I am more concerned when you say you are making columns and attaching wood to them does that mean you are in fact making an enclosure in which you plan to place the speakers? if so, what kind of speakers are they? are they intended to be in an enclosure? are they sealed or back ported etc. Most speakers including bookshelf are not in fact designed to be in an enclosure and suffer acoustically if you do that.

The columns will be housing a pair of Polk Bookshelf speakers (R15s). Although they'll be enclosed on 3 sides, there still will be a good bit of room around the speaker. I'm not concerned about the acoustics suffering any.
