I have a specific requirement for which I'm seeking the easiest solution. My new house was pre-wired for DirecTV, cable, ethernet, etc. The DTV dish I'm using is PhaseIII with HDTV. The cables from the dish are sent to three rooms in the house, but not the way I specified; specifically, my home theater room has only one DirecTV line (feeding an HDTV DirecTV receiver).

I need to add a second DirecTV receiver (standard def) to the HT room. Can I use a multi-switch to accomplish this without running new lines from the dish?

Nope.

You need at a minimum of two cables using expensive stackers, or four cables for multiswitch use.

You can stack a single sat (say 101) on a single cable.

cowboys2002, as I stated, the pre-wiring was not done the way I specified. Of course I indicated multiple lines/outlets in the a/v room, but the contractor failed to do it. I was not in the state when the house was constructed, so I didn't discover the error until the house was completed.
