Hi there,

I have a 2.1 speaker setup that doesn't have volume control.

I believe it used to be connected to a cd/radio unit, that had the volume control on it. I can't find any model number on it, I did find a manufacturing date (Feb-2nd-2002) and a serial number. I tried a partial serial number search to hopefully identify the model, but had no luck.

Here's a photo of the back. The speakers are just tiny little satellites.

What I want to do is wire up a volume knob...something like this

Code:
Code:
(to amp/sub)

It's plugged into an airport express, in the kitchen.

I want the volume to be independent from the living room, hence the need for it's own volume control.

Also, I think I found the setup on the cambridge soundworks site, it may be a new model, but it definitely looks identical.

I had a look at the "what's in the box" section, and there's a Volume Control with 12ft Audio Connecting Cable and Stereo Mini-Plugs

I'm gonna see how much it costs to buy one...my guess is it won't be cheap, so screw em if that's the case, although, I might be able to snag one cheap/free ...my girlfriend is somehow related to someone high up in the company
I just can't be stuffed pulling strings for something so mundane...and maybe it's the booze, but I am getting more keen to do this DIY styles!

Also, I had a look on ebay and found a lot of volume adjusters, but they also have microphones built in as they are originally intended for mobile phones....I think I might prefer to build one than buy that

Cheers,

Pat.
