How to back up the Ultimate TV ?

Has anyone that has tried this?

pulled the hard drive, set it as slave in a PC then made a

backup image with ghost or other software?

It would be nice to have when the hard drive crashes.

They can do this with the Tivo and Linux

any reason it cant be done with UTV?


I disassembled my RCA UTV pulled the hard drive and found it is a

Seagate 40gig st340825a

16383Cyl x 16Hds x 63 sectors

LBA =78,165,360

Placed the drive in my win98 PC and was unable to read it. In fact fdisk showed the drive as being completely empty, unpartitioned.

Norton Ghost also failed to find it.


I was under the impression that Windows CE was the operating system. Will have do some more research.


If anyone has any more info or suggestions please let me know.

If you want a backup of the drive, find a Unix guy. Hand him your drive and 6-pack of his favorate beer. Ask him for a compressed DD image of the drive.


He'll know what you mean.
