I seen some really good looking ticket booths in some of your guys HT's. Can someone post the plans and pictures on how you did yours. I'm looking to build one on a flat wall as you walk into my room. Thanks Redhouse

Are you thinking of doing a functional or faux ticket booth (do you plan to get in it or just have the facade)?

Redhouse,

I am two weeks away from having one of our designers draw up the prints for our ticket booth. Have to finish the marquee first. It will be a working one (wife requires it for the kids). If you can wait that long I will post the prints once I have them.

Best regards

Thank's for the replies, I was looking to build one of the ones that just sit on the door or wall just for the looks. I have 2 kids so a working one would be fun.

Redhouse,

We did a very simple ticket window into a closet so it is a working booth for the kids. It doesn't have the beautiful trim that most have I actually went for the neighborhood mutiplex look. All we did was cut the drywall between the studs, inserted plexiglass, and used some metal carpet transitions around the opening. The only real tough part was cutting the semi-circle in the plexiglass for the money passthrough. I took the plexiglass to a window store and they cutout the semi-circle.

Here's one that I have been thinking about "borrowing" from...

If you click on the line below "My HT" below my old ticket window has several pictures. The whole thing is made from MDF. The counter and top are double thickness with scrap counter top laminate glued to the edge. The widow is glass cut by a local glass place there is a hole cut behind so that the depth is about stud cavity only . It's lined with black velvet to make it appear deeper. The decorative verticals are 1/2 round and they are topped with stock trim from Lowe's.It was fun but it is sitting in my storage room after my old theater became history.

Art, your design is what I'm looking for, something really nice that sit's on the wall with out taking up a lot of space.

Here's what I'm thinking, I have this spot on the wall that has a door covering elec. box, a drain and cable wires. I would like to build a ticket booth, that will sit in that spot and act as a cover that can be opened to get to the things behind it. Here's a picture of what I need to cover.

I based mine off of Art's design. It is the door that leads into my HT. I just used two pre-made shelves from Home Depot...one in the middle and one inverted on top. I then cut, painted, and glued the molding in place. I still have to put the plexi on but am waiting for the holes to be cut into it. Click on "my gallery" above and it is on the second page. Art, any guesses on where I got the idea for the marquee from? :)

cobaltsrufflife,

The actual theatre room is around 12 x 21. I have a 1/2 basement and the theatre takes up everthing but a large storage room with the furnace etc. The hallway is narrow and makes it very hard to take good pictures.

Mike,

More comments. I love the gambling tables and restrooms. I really wish I had the room to add those. The sconces are excellent where did you get those? I also like the wall insets in the theatre. One of the things I do not like about my room is the lack of some texure (?) in the actual theatre. I have thought of false colums, but i think your inset walls are nicer.

Finally, you did an A++ on the chairs. Curving the front and offsetting the back row where the front seats would not block the view is fantastic. My set-up works in the back but only if the front chairs are all the way reclined.

Yes I did. Or should I say, this forum did. I read a lot of info as I went a long. I wish I had asked questions on accoustics, though. I have a major build up of bass in the right front corner due to the HT being offset to the right of the room...reflection points...etc. Winter Project= Accoustic Treatments:)

I made the sconces out of angle iron and Lexan from Home Depot. I then downloaded the images from somewhere here and took them to my buddy's screen printing shop. He first put down the translucent blue vinyl and then overlayed the black vinyl exposing the image. The actual light is made from a single "gang box" with a single outlet installed in it. Then I used a "plug to socket" converter to put a small 40watt bulb in it. See here:

Thanks for the positive feedback! But the credit for the ticket booth and marquee should really go to Art. Are you familiar with Art? He has an alright set up! :)
