How to calibrate a digital cable source?

664 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  optivity
So I have calibrated my VGA source, which is hooked up to my Xbox 360 by popping in the Finding Nemo disc. So now I want to calibrate my digital cable source, which I believe is component? Right now it looks great, but it is still at like factory settings of 46 brightness and 50 contrast and a sharpness level of 40. The TV is a HP PL4260N, would I just have to plug the 360 into the component slot and do it that way?

Thanks for your help!

different sources can certainly need different input settings, but may get you close enough without going to a $250-400+ isf calibration.

This makes sense to me. My approach is to use one of the Manufacturer's default settings then add some minor tweaks to accommodate the input source, my personal taste & particular viewing environment.
