How to clean a speaker's drivers?

531 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ehlarson
Yesterday I popped off my Athena AS-F2s grills and noticed that the two large drivers (is that what they are called??) had layer of dust on it. What is the best way to clean this off? I tried to blow on it but that wouldn't remove it. Can I lightly use a damp paper towel and wipe it off? Or should I just leave it alone?

Also, should I set my receiver to "large, medium, or small" while using 4 AS-F2s?

My Dynaudio manual suggests leaving it alone.
Just don't use any liquid cleaning solution. Use a feather duster or some lint free type duster. The lighter, the better. As long as you don't damage the cone material or surrounds you should be ok. Dennis

Or you could just burn it off with a blow torch, either way!
I think the best bet is to leave it alone - definitely do not try wiping with a wet paper towel.
