My home theater is wired to 5.1 speakers and I have no intention to add 2 more speakers to run 7.1. My AVR doesn't have HDMI but do have 6.1 input.

If I would to buy a Panasonic DMP-BD55 or any other player with build in decoder, what would be the best way to connect the Player to AVR?

1. Run 6 wires? How do I set the BD55's output to 5.1 instead of 7.1?

2. Can I use the TosLink cable? Preferred, one wire instead of 6 wires?

3. Any other method?

Thanks for helping.
