How to connect Sony integrated PC VGC-V620G with no Monitor out to Sony XBR1 TV

1535 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  gigaguy
I have a Sony VGC-V620G all-in-one desktop PC with integrated 20" widescreen monitor. It has no VGA, monitor, or AV outputs! It does have USB2, SPDIF, and ilink ports.

Is there a way to use my Sony 40XBR1 LCD TV (or an XBR2/3) as a full monitor with this PC?

Sell the fancy and buy (build!) yourself a newer, less-fancy, more functional computer... if you can get a decent price for the fancy.

I searched Amazon and came across this. Whereas it says the VGC-V620G has all sorts of wonderful video-outs, I bet that's an older version.

Have you called Sony and asked them about any docking bays or adapters for it?

When you're on the line with them, check whether or not your warranty is still valid. If it isn't, ask the tech what sort of wire you should look for when you rip it open (I mean, carefully disassemble) that you can somehow send to your TV. That may be your only option save selling it.

Well at least you've learned your lesson. Next time around, you'll either buy a computer with an integrated 40" monitor or you'll buy a 40" TV with an integrated computer.

Thanks. I love my Sony integrated PC. I hate clutter. It has a high-quality 20" widescreen and integrated wireless keyboard and mouse that operate from my TV area to where the PC is. Outputting to TV is just a Perk I'd like. I only wanted to web browse on the TV.

I have a Sony DHG-HDD500 Hi-Def DVR (500g HDD) and a DVD Recorder (160g HDD) for SD content hooked to the TV, so I don't need a full HTPC.

Anyone have suggestion for a cheap web browser for my TV?
What about one of these USB video card things? It might do the job for just surfing the web.
