i have a yamaha neohd 500bl which I would like to connect to a separate power amp to drive my front speakers. There is a subwoofer output which I am using. it doesn't have any preamp out rca jacks. Does anyone know what i can use to connect an amp to the neohd?

It can't be easily done since that unit has no RCA preamp output jacks. You might find a speaker level converter that outputs to preamp levels. I'm presuming you have HTIB speaker - best to upgrade your speakers and get a decent receiver before getting a power amp. With a good receiver and speakers you may find you don't need a power amp.
