What's a safe and environmentally-sound way to dispose of old/dead CRT tv's? Curb pickup with the rest of your garbage? I'd be concerned about 1) electrocution danger due to still-charged capacitors, or 2) environmentally-toxic materials leaking (mercury?).

Most cities have a phone number you can call for recycling issues (old paint, brakefluid, oil, etc). Sometimes they hold a "hazardous recycling day" where they take just about anything that can't be thrown away safely.

In my experience, I put an old 27" out the night before 'trash day' and it was gone an hour later.

Most cities have laws against disposing of CRTs (TVs, monitors) in the regular trash. Look for special recycling events a few times a year that you can drop off your old TVs, VCRs, etc. to be disposed of properly - not in the landfill.

Salvation Army they pick things up with their own truck, they could sell it as a handimans rebuild/special. You may receive a tax credit which you can use come next April 15, 2005
