I was wondering how I can go about getting demo unit projectors to try. Contacting AV stores in my area (Boston/Cambridge) I have found some that would set up in-store demos of available models but I have not found any that will allow me to (even with a deposit) take one home and examine it in (what will be) my HT environment.

I have read some posts recently that offhandedly refer to "ordering a demo unit" and I was wondering how I can go about doing this without paying exorbitant rental fees. I am incorporated so I can do it under my business name if that opens more doors.

Thanks for your help.

I've dealt with dealers that cater to corporate customers. I try to stay away from the AV dealer on the corner (I can't stand their sales people anyway).

Corporate dealers are set up to do on site demos. I was successful in getting four projectors in my home over weekends.

In one case I had to actually rent the projectors, but the $300 investment for two projectors was worth it (considering the cost of the units and the cost of a bad decision).
