How to get OTA HD channels on Samsung UN46C7100?

2279 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Phase700B
Plugged the OTA antenna into UN46C7100. It only shows a few analog channels that are not broadcasting. No way to scan for digital. I go into Menu/ChList and that's what it shows. Tried to play with A,B,C keys to no avail. I don't get it.

I know I get a few dozen HD ch here since the old Sharp Aquos I used to have picked them up after a scan.

And no way to punch in an HD channel manually, since there is no "." in the remote. There is a "-" but apparently it doesn't work either to select something like 9.1, 9-1 doesn't do anything either.

The manual is of no help.

I'm surprised that there is no way to scan for OTA channels. Typing in the virtual channel probably won't work cause your area may not have that setup to broadcast so you'll need the actual channel. Have you called Samsung?

You may need to check and make sure your RF input is selected for "Antenna" and not "Cable". There may be a selection in a set up menu for that.

Assuming you have a reliable and properly connected antenna, push Menu button. It will bring up Picture mode. Push down arrow twice until it brings up Antenna. Hit enter. Choose Antenna instead of cable. Push down arrow once to Auto Program. Hit Enter. The TV will then scan for analog and digital channels.

Before you start another thread, wait for an answer. It uses up AVS resources to start new threads. At the very least, you can go back now and delete one of these two threads you started for this same question now that you got your answer.

Guess you should maybe read your manual.
