[Eyeball Chambers]

My surge protectors, both in my office and theater, are a bit of an eyesore. I would like to be able to disguise or hide them somehow, so I was hoping some of you might have some good, inexpensive suggestions.

What type of surge protectors do you have and where are they that they are an eyesore? Big gave and excellent link and a great option to use if you only need to use two outlets if you need more here is a slimmer option but more obtrusive than what Big provided.

I'm talking about my Belkin and Dynex surge protectors that all of my components are plugged into. Is there any good way to disguise those?

BRIGHT ORANGE PAINT, that way no one would ever suspect they are actually what they are, power protection devices!

You could also paint scary faces on them too and they'll look like scary pumpkins! Just Kidding!


Really? I don't get your question? what do you want? Hide them behind your AV equipment, or put them on a shelf with your equipment and put some pictures or books in front of them.

I'd put them behind something if that were my best option, but it's really not. I guess I was just hoping for some kind of housing or something. Guess there isn't anything like that, huh?

I'm guessing the OP has the surge protectors and wants something like that to hide them in. I haven't seen anything specific like what you found for using an existing SP device. Humm... a good idea for some company to make.

Thanks for the suggestions, but it appears what I have in mind doesn't exist. It was worth a shot.

my tv stand has dvd shelves on the sides with doors, so i cut a hole in the back, put my surge protector in that space and ran power cables through the hole. the only thing that is seen is the power cord for the surge protector going from the wall into the back of the tv stand. maybe u could do somethin similar??

With my setup, I have the AV rack in the corner with my PS3, receiver, and cable box on the shelves. The cords run out back and plug into the surge protector beside the rack, with my woofer on the other side of the power strip. So it goes AV rack, exposed surge protector, then woofer.


For a brief period I had my old PS2 on a cart in front of the surge protector, but have since relocated it. The way my theater is configured, I'm not sure I could move the AV rack enough to allow for the surge protector to be hidden behind it.


I suppose I might be able to relocate it to the free bottom shelf on my AV rack. That might work, although I'd still have the cord from the strip and woofer exposed. But two cords running along the baseboard would look a whole lot better than however many sticking up out of the surge protector.

You can "disguise" your surge protector w/something you may already have in your house: A shoe box. It has lid to access the cords...just cut a small hole on either side, and run the cords in through there. Or if U wan to "match" your decor...buy any box w/a lid. (Note: purchase an inexpensive hole saw to cut the holes. I paid less than $3 for one)
