What advice is there to finding a center speaker to match existing left and right speakers? I have a set of Fried A3/a loudspeakers that I cannot part with for music and want to set up a dual purpose system with them as the left and right for surround. Probably not a lot of people have heard of Fried [Bud Fried of IMF days] but these are two way transmission line speakers that are very full range for music and perform well currently during DVDs as well.

Thanks.

The only suggestion one can make without actually borrowing the speakers and trying them out would be to find speakers with the same/similar drivers. You should look for speakers of the same vintage with KEF or Dalesford drivers. Brands that might work, in addition to another Fried, might be Mordaunt-Short, KEF, IMF, Chartwell, etc.

Thanks for the advice, but not what I was hoping to hear...... from what you said I need to find more 20+ year old speakers to get where I want to go.

But my wife will jump with glee if I share this as she is just wishing I would buy some of those little Bose speakers since they are so much less intrusive than these monitors on spiked stands...
