I needed a 25 foot run of wire for from my AV receiver to my sub so I used RG6 coax. The problem is that now I get a distinctive buzz in the sub which gets louder as I turn up the gain.

Without the cable hooked up there is a very slight, almost inaudible buzz, which I think is normal. With the sub plugged into the amp, but the amp off, the buzz gets much louder, borderline annoying. If the amp is on (no matter the volume) it gets just a bit louder and become annoying.

Is this a grounding issue or is it picking up some interference through the long run of cable? If it's a ground problem, how can I mitigate it? If it's interference, is there some type of filter I can put on coax to "clean out" the interference?

Thanks.
