I have built simple columns out of 2x2s with 3/4" OSB on top then wrapped in fabric. Think of them as acoustical panels. The will also have sconces mounted on them.


I was thinking of either small L brackets, or screwing 2x2 to the wall which would go on the inside of the panel/column and then screwing to the outside.

Either works.


I screwed to the wall a piece of scrap that was as wide as the column. Ends slide around it.




I can take a better photo of it tonight.

I attached a 2x4 to the ceiling and the floor then screwed through the front face of the column anchoring it in place. The screws are hidden by the crown and base molding.


Two screws on top and two on the bottom.
