Direct TV does not have the instructions available, either in the paperwork, or on their website, per their telephone techs.

the ONLY way to do is to follow the prompts on the TV.

which is pretty stupid, because if you have one remote,

you can't program another unless you "un-program" the Direct RC64R from RF to IR, then use the TV prompts to re-program them both again

as an added insult, once you switch one Direct remote to RF,

you can NO LONGER use any other remotes in the IR mode.

so basically, all your other remotes are trash.

anyways, my Direct TV receiver DVR is in another room, and I re-did the whole system, and took off the IR repeater eye just to simplify the wiring integration.

so now, i have to walk around room to room, once i shift to IR and try to re-shift the remotes back to RF.

With the receiver and one of the RF remotes set to RF mode, leave them alone and just do the following on the second RF remote:

1. dtv

2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks

3. enter 0 0 0 0 1

4. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks

5. enter 9 6 1

6. press CH UP

7. enter the last 6 digits of the receiver ID #, found on a sticker in the access card compartment

8. press SELECT

Thanks for your suggestion! Will this method work for a third remote as well?

Sure, infinite # of RF remotes can control the same receiver.
