I have what I think is a very simple question. I want to calibrate my 5.1 system and am not sure about the subwoofer part. Specifically, I understand that my Pioneer Elite receiver controls the crossover point (so that control is turned off on the sub). I also know that the level (or volume) is controlled on the sub.

First off, that is my only (and best) option? I don't think I can control volume level within the receiver but who knows?

Anyway, my second (and most important) question is, when calibrating using the MCACC, at what volume level am I supposed to set the sub? For what it's worth, moving the knob anywhere past the half way point seems to be overbearing in general.

So, when calibrating, should:

1. Turn it all the way down

2. Turn it all the way up

3. Set it to a confortable level (e.g., half way) or

4. It doesn't matter
