Background- I’ve been using a Yamaha rv? 773 receiver in a media closet in the front of the house connected to family room speakers/TV and a set of outdoor speakers on the deck (zone 2). I used to primarily use FM radio for the deck, but lately I’ve been using the SiriusXM app on the iPad and casting it to the receiver (AirPlay?). Since the receiver is in the closet, I use a Harmony ultimate/hub in that closet.

Here is where I am confused - built a pool in the backyard. Pool house/shed is ~100’ from the deck. If I can hear music at pool, it is too loud on the deck.

Shed will have Ethernet cable and a wireless access point (just upgraded to TP Link deco m9 throughout the house) and planning to use WiFi switches so I can shut lights off without going all the way back there. They are all Alexa compatible so I may break down and get an echo device.

So if I put a newer Yamaha receiver by the pool, my old 773 isn’t compatible with musiccast so I couldn’t have the deck speakers and pool speakers sync’d up.

I like the idea of voice control at the pool.
I’ve looked into the echo link and amp and thought a bit about Sonos connects, but wanted to see if you guys had better ideas.

I’m inherently cheap, but WAF is important.

I’m looking for simple background music but don’t want to mess with portable Bluetooth speakers ever again.

Any recommendations?

Sonos connect would be the cheapest in the Sonos line. Then you could control with your phone or Amazon dot. You might also find a used Sonos amp out there since they came out with a new one list last spring.

Yes is sounds like you would need both for your set up. Then you could control the volume for both areas together or separate (louder at the pool and quieter at the patio). You could also play the same source on both or a difference source on both at the same time (Rock at the pool and R&B on the patio).
You could use just an amp if you could get both sets of speaker wires to it. Then the volume levels and source would always be the same at both locations.

I've been dragging my feet a bit curious if sonos is going to update the Connect later this month, but still struggling with the idea of spending $600 on their amp.

It isn't possible to wire my existing outside speakers to the future pool speakers, but could I use a fire TV cube attached to my existing receiver along with either amazon's $300 echo link amp or a cheap receiver/amp with a second Fire TV cube and sync them up?

Since I was looking for voice control by the pool and fairly simple multiroom audio, I wondered if this would be decent bang for the buck.

Any experience with any of these?
