I ran the composite video output from my Dish 5000 receiver into the composite input on the Hipix, but it won't show up when I view NTSC stuff. i tried all the channels. i thought it might come through on 3 or 4, but no. i went into config and changed the inputs, to no avail. anyone got some advice? thanks.

i'm doing this because i need to be able to see the guide to change from OTA stations to HBO-HD and SHO-HD... i don't want to run an extra composite video run from the dish 5000 to my projector just for a guide :)

You need to select Line-In, not NTSC to view the composite input. NTSC is only for modulated video. (Composite = RCA plug)

Did you mean you ran the RF-modulated NTSC video into the antenna port on the HiPix? (RF = coax 'F' connector) If so, the 5000's RF output should show on channel 3 or 4, according to how you set the switch.

Does this help?

I have Hipix with Dish 5000 with the HDTV module.

To view the menus of the Dish 5000 receiver connected to the HiPix I would use the following steps:

1. Turn on Dish 5000 and Start Hipix.

2. Select "Composite" button on Hipix console.

3. Select "Full Screen Video" button.

4. Press "Menu" button on Dish 5000 remote.

Your Dish 5000 menu should appear on the screen.

I am using Hipix Version 3 Beta 1.

Hope this works for you.
