14" x 22" x 24" enclosure

15" Dayton Ultimax

Behringer Inuke 3000 DSP

I can go up to 15" but figured I should leave an inch for the grille and woofer travel.  I come up with a bit under 3 cu. ft. after bracing.  Since this is a small enclosure, would a 18" Dayton UM perform any better?

I wouldn't go smaller than 4 cu ft with the UM18, and it's a lot happier in 6 cu ft.

OK, so if I end up with a 2-3 ft3 sealed box I would likely be better off sticking with the 15" dayton UM.  I suppose the Behringer inuke 1000 would be sufficient? Its 1000w bridged into 4 Ohms but not sure if that is peak or RMS.  The Dayton UM 15 is rated for 800w rms

I've built a couple 3cf enclosures with an SI15 that have worked out really well. The Inuke puts out about 680 RMS into 4 ohms bridged.

Sounds good.  I am guessing this might make a decent partner for my XS30 in terms of output and extension since it will be placed near field and the gain will likely be kept a bit lower.  $375 for DSP amp and UM-15 driver.  Chaluga said he could likely cut a flat pack for me for roughly $2-250 shipped.  Not sure of my assembly skills though.  I suppose I could find a local cabinet shop or something to assemble.

It's extremely easy. You glue things together. Not hard at all. I'm no woodworking mastermind and own no tools. I went out, bought 2 clamps, and glued it together. Very easy. Since he'll be assemblign it in a flat pack you'll already have braces done and won't have to cut them and will have a baffle cutout.

I think you can glue a box together right?

in a 3 cubic footer, the sub will benefit from a little eq to help boost the low end, so the dsp version of the amp is a good idea.

the sub can only take about 1000 watts before shooting past xmax, so the 3000 may be a little much for it. the limiter can be set though to give a solid 1000 watts of power. the 1000 amp is a little weak for that driver, but could work.

you'll get some good room gain below 30hz if your room is typical, so don't worry about the rolloff being quite this drastic in room.

Check with Leland at www.speakerhardware.com , he has flat packs for my S15 Sub, but I don't know if he has the sealed version or only vented. It's nominally spec'd for the RSS390 HO vented or HE sealed, but the sealed would take a UM15 too.

where did u get that from ?

for the NU3000DSP I read this in several places...

- 2x 315 Watt RMS at 8 Ohm (2x 440 Watt max)

- 2x 620 Watt RMS at 4 Ohm (2x 820 Watt max)

- 2x 1040 Watt RMS at 2 Ohm (2x 1520 Watt max)

- 1x 1250 Watt RMS at 8 Ohm bridged (1x 1500 Watt max)

- 1x 2075 Watt RMS at 4 Ohm bridged (1x 3000 Watt max)
