I read many people in this forum mention calibration of their TV (GWIII and GWIV), do you need professional to do this? Are there any guideline of what is the setting? I have HDTV thru Charter in Los Angeles hook up thru Component cable, PS2 thru Component and Pionner DVD Recorder DVR-520H from S-video (charter gave me a HDTV box without DVI out....I will bring in mine to exchange for a box that had DVI out, then switch my DVD to Component as well). Any specific setting?
There are some adjustments that you can make that do not require a professional but may require a test disc. However, if you are really into movies I would then recommend a professional calibration, as that is the only way you can be sure that you are set to the industry specs which will resemble how the director saw it in the transfer. A pro will use sensitive meters to make their adjustments, and will be able to document the pre and post calibration performance of your display so you can see the differences that were made in a graphical presentation.
