Obviously, it will bite relative to HDTV and DVD. But is standard digital cable even WATCHABLE on a HDTV set like the Sony KD-34XBR2? Will I have to keep my old standard 27" set (ten years old) to watch Adelphia programming?

I am told that Adelphia further compresses signals and throws off line doublers, etc., making signals even worse than they would appear on a regular TV. Is this true?

Note:

I live in West L.A. and expect to get a handful of HD signals OTA. The rest will have to come, unfortunately, from Adelphia for the time being (no dishes allowed in the apartment where I live).

Uh, it's a federal regulation that landlords allow you to get a satellite signal if you have the equipment. If you're interested in pursuing this, I can list the section and the law.
