I traded some cheap parts for one and wondering if I would be better off with a new but sub $100 card?

What are your planned uses?


I had a Radeon 9000 in my HTPC. I chose that model because it was fanless. For 2D stuff it is fine. I wouldn't try it for 3D games, though.

For HTPC use you would be better served with a newer sub $100 Radeon [ like the fan-less 9600 ] . Just do not expect much gaming performance unless you move up to a Pro or XT model .

$200 will get you the 9800 pro, you will be able to do gaming (depending on your cpu and memory)

most probably a new card would be good since both of those cards do not support directx9


the 9600 or 6200 would be good options
