I have just ordered myself a Hoya FL-Day filter 52mm to my ae300 and Digital Video Essentials calibration DVD (both pal/ntsc).

With this i should get better black level and more natural colors according to one on another discussion forum. I will post the result here when I'm done calibrating.

I'm using a FL-D filter on my AE300 in "Normal" mode. I like the results, but I haven't tried tweaking to produce higher contrast. I'm seeing around 400:1, with acceptable black level and detail. The FL-D filter cuts the light output quite a bit, though.

Ask on the sub-$3500 projector forum and you'll probably get more responses.
