FYI for those looking into DVD burners. I had the opportunity to try out both units this weekend and here are my initial impressions:

The HP unit comes with good documentation and software, including Sonic MyDVD v3.x. The software works well but requires that you re-encode the audio to DVD specs. I did this with womble and the output was fine. Wrote to an Hp DVD+RW disk which played on 2 Sony machines and 1 pioneer.

The Pioneer unit looked like a grey market piece of hardware despite the high price and buying it from BestBuy. The software had virtually no documentation and included the previous version of Sonic MyDVD v2.x. The unit seemed somewhat slower than the HP and the output disk, a pioneer DVD-RW worked in one of 2 sonys and the pioneer unit.

Overall, little media is available for the new DVD+RW standard but the unit seems much more promising.
