HS10 & HTPC : Are other resolutions better than the native 1368 x 768 @56 Hz?

Hi,

I have my HTPC connected to my HS10 and am using the 1:1 resolution (1368 x 768, signal no 51). But I have seen some people suggesting other resolutions that can be used with the HS10 (mostly @ 50 or 60 Hz) for PAL & NTSC movies. I want to know if these other resolutions will be better than the full resolution and also wont a lot of pixels go wasted since it doesn't cover up the whole screen.

You might be confusing the output resolution at which the signal is fed to the PJ with the resolution of the picture.

You get best results if the output signal from the computer matches the native resolution of the PJ. This way you don't use PJ's internal scaler which is inferior to the GPU.

However if you use ffdshow you might find that resizing the picture to double the DVD original resultion (or some other resolution) might yield better results. This however gets scaled to the output resolution by your graphic card. For the output resolution see above.
1368x768 @ 56 Hz is fine for film source (24 fps), what people have a problem with is 30 fps video material. You'll get severe stuttering, so you might want to try lower resolutions that run at 50/60 Hz in those cases.
