I have the HS2/RP-82 combination and it is a winner! RP 82 plays dvd-r's from HS-2 [even cheepie Optodiscs] as well a DVD-Ram [non-cartridge for the RP 82]. The 82 is in my bedroom;Nice Combo!

It may be a unrealistic fear, but i dont want to wear out my hs2 drive. I have another dvd for playing movies, and a 300disk changer for my purchased movies, archives.

Well since my HS2 is in my room, i wanted to add on the rp82 just for watching movies.

The question i have is : is the progressive scan on the hs2 enough or is the rp82 a better progressive scan player? Plus is it give to have both part of the home theater setup

I ordered a Panny DMR-T3040 DVD recorder the other day and what do you guys recommend for the best method to copy non copy protected DVD's for backup? Do you recommend using the s-video, or composite video connections? I would think s-video would be the way to go for DVD copying and composite for VHS or S-VHS copying. What do you think?
