Has anyone installed or custom built a shelf that hang from the ceiling to put there projectors on , as to give slight flexability in moving the projector a few inches one way or another?

There are three manufacturers that make a ceiling mount bracket that allows you to adjust the projector in three different directions. If you are interested, please let me know and I will look up the model numbers.

That is correct. I put up a shelf from the ceiling to make it flexible in regards to placement. It might be better to mount it directly from the ceiling, but it requires more exact placement of the mount.
