I need a sub for stereo system in the living room (2100 cu. ft). This will be strictly for music powered by a Sonos Connect AMP. The bookshelf are going to be HSU HB-1 MK2, since these are the only well regarded speakers under $300 that will fit my 9 inch shelves. (Any other suggestions are welcomed) I am considering getting the HSU value package 2 ($599), but was hoping to save a few dollars on the sub, as this setup is way over budget now. The LSP 10 is $249 and the stf-2 $359. Also, I'm new to this and really don't understand the specs on both of these subs. This is where your expertise comes in...Thoughts? Thanxs in advance.

 Lava LSP10 ($246 + shipping(?))

- 10" driver

- 150W (RMS?) amp

- "Lowpass: 22 - 200 Hz (+/-3dB) boost: 11dB @ 40Hz / LFE: 24 - 400 Hz (+/-3dB)"

HSU STF-2 ($359 + shipping)

- 10" driver

- 200W RMS

- 25-200 Hz +/-2dB

Klipsch RW-12d (currently on sale for $279 + shipping(?) at Newegg.com)

- 12" driver

- 350W RMS amp

- 24-120Hz +/-3dB

Of the three, the Lava is the least powerful sub, and probably has the least overall output. And - although it's hard to tell - it most likely doesn't extend nearly as low as either of the other two subs.

The Klipsch is more powerful than the HSU, appears to have roughly similar extension, and may have greater output overall. But...it is more "musical" than the HSU? Dunno. But, from what I've read, if it's well-designed, it should do well with music, too.

Just spoke to Lava and they are telling me that the 10 inch would be sufficient, but I'm not sure interns of sound quality, which of the two subs would sound better for strictly music. I' m not looking for booming bass, but quality sound to complement and enhance the listening
