Ht Pc - Dvr

Guys,

I have a directv HDreceiver in my home theater. I am not keen to spend $400+ on the HDDVR from directv, so I am looking to build my own using some unused PC equipment. What can I use to capture and record the output of my HD receiver? ATI seem to have a couple of offerings, but they seem to be mainly related to free to air. Does anyone know if the AllinWonder HD card will do the job, or is there something else that I need?

Thanks for your help.

Directv cannot be captured on the pc at this time. There are rumors that within the next year directv may make some sort of device or an internet download / streaming service available.
You can create your own directv PVR but it will only capture channels in standard definition.

You could get an over the air HD tuner card which would give you the local channels in HD only.
Thanks guys, that is what I was afraid of. I guess that I will just have to fork out the money for an HDVR.
