Disclaimer: I'm a newbie...working on a fairly tight budget (with some wiggle room)

So I need some help with Home Theater receiver selection.

Here are my requirements:

-Component Upconversion

-Component Switching w/ at least 3 component Inputs

-Able to drive 4ohm speakers in a 5.1 setup. I'm thinking of putting Maggies all around (4 x MMG-W and an MMG-C). I have not decided on a sub yet.

-$1000-$1200 Maximum

Is this a pipe dream? Are there decent receivers that meet my requirements at this price point?

Thanks in advance.

What do you think the differences will be between the 2805 and 3805?

The Denon 3805 has that the 2805 doesn't: DDSC, HCDC, Denon Link, remote will be different, Front panel flip down door, 120w vs 100w(2805), Bigger power transformer/Capicitor.......

Though I believe the 2805 will come with the Mic for Auto setup and the 3805 doesn't/

Thanks for the reply cburbs!

According to the docs and the back of the receiver it will drive 6-16ohm speakers. I need to power 4ohm all around.

What do you think/know about the NAD T753

(i cant post URLs yet so you'll have to add the standard prefix) nadelectronics.com/av_receivers/T753_frameset.htm

That 6-16 ohm rating may just be conservative or at least a CYA effort.

I have an older Denon 3300 with similar "6-16 olm" specs and label on the back panel and have been driving five 4-ohm Miller & Kreisel S150's with it for over 4 years without any glitches or audio protective circuit cutouts.

Maybe others on the forum know more about running 4-ohm loads into Denon receivers--I'd be interested in more comments because I'd very much like to replace my Denon 3300 with a 2805 or 3805.
