Hello everyone , i'm thinking of getting a Home theater system to go along with my mitsu Hd1000, and I some questions .


I saw a Panasonic SCHT40 for about $179 at walmart how is this system and what others would you recommend for about $200.


I also wanted to know which cable has a better sound quality OPTICAL OR COAXIAL

I've used both optical and coax from various components to my receiver and I honestly don't believe there is a difference in sound quality.


Optical will have an advantage to being immune from interference, but I haven't had any problems with my coaxial.


I use both. Optical from my DVD player, coax from my cable box (only option there.)




As for a system, I can't say I've ever been impressed with any of the ones available from WalMart. I saw a Pioneer there that I MIGHT consider in a pinch, but other than that, I'd maybe look for a good refurbed Onkyo system or something along those lines.

optical vs coaxial digital cables provide the same sound quality. Just use whatever your receiver and output device provide.
