I have a HT1000 with approx 220 hours on it. At around 200 hours I noticed that it started making some odd sounds when starting up. The fan makes a quite audible clicking/rattling noise for about 1-2 minutes and then fades down to the normal ambient level and runs quietly for the rest of the session. Since this is now happening consistently on every startup, I'm wondering if there is a fan failure waiting to happen and whether I should send the unit in servicing. I'm curious to hear if anyone else has had this happen to them and any advice folks may have?

Thanks in advance.

I've got a lot more hours on mine than that and I don't have that issue. It seems like your bearings are going. The HT1000 always starts with the fan on high and then slows down automaticaly if you are in econo mode. You could test this out by putting your HT1000 in standard mode and see if the noises persist when the fan remains on high. NEC service is fast and seems to do a good job.
